Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the
Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said
to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news
of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of
David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2: 9-11
The shepherds heard and followed. They took the steps necessary to find
the Savior, Christ the Lord. How ready am I to seek and believe?
Why has God come to the earth? It is already his by right of creation,
presence, and power. So why has he come? Why did he take on a human
nature? According to Genesis 1:27, God created man in the image of
himself. “So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he
created them; male and female he created them.”
So why did God come? Why take on a human nature? God came to
restore the lost image. He came to reclaim, redeem, and restore us to our
intended place, as his children.
Now is the acceptable time. Now is the day of salvation! What will it take to
get our attention? Holy Spirit, guide our contemplations. Amen.
